However, the battery life is disappointingly short and the maximum volume leaves a lot to be desired.
Want to listen to borderline warm-sounding higher-res files, after a lengthy time customizing the sound with an equalizer?
Dont know what that sentence means?
These earbuds arent for you.
These sell for a mid-range price, which they justify in many ways.
The buds are feature-rich too, with an app bursting at the seams with useful extra perks.
So why the long face or 3.5-star review?
Well, thats down to a few quality-of-life annoyances that hinder the experience of using the buds.
I also found that the max volume didnt cut it.
Those mostly cost more because of a UV sterilization feature; in terms of specs theyre quite similar.
If you need some lasting power, Id recommend jumping into the app to turn off ANC.
Just note, you have to download these tracks in the app before you’re able to listen.
Its only feature of note is the USB-C port that you use to charge it.
This is despite having not one but two different button types on each, which well get into later.
Turns out, ABBA’sWaterloohas a great bass line!
And Im not even a fan of super-loud, ear-damaging music; these earbuds just werent loud enough.
On the topic of noise cancellation: it works.
Its nothing to write home about, but it works.
The standard mode manages to strip out annoying background humdrum and noises (takethat, loud upstairs neighbours!)
but didnt work as well for louder, constant low-level problems like the aforementioned thrum of traffic.
Lets briefly touch on the tech that keeps the ATH-TWX7 sounding the way they do.
Basically, youre paying for what you get but the competition at this level is tough.
Thats not to say that the ATH-TWX7 are overpriced; theyre worth exactly what you pay for them.
Should I buy the Audio-Technica ATH-TWX7?
They’re our top-rated wireless earbuds for a reason with a svelte design and fantastic noise cancelling.
Expect some rough edges too, including (somehow) an even worse battery life than the Audio-Technicas.
I’ve been testing gadgets for TechRadar for over five years so bring lots of experience to this review.
Plenty of that was testing audio products.
