The JLab Epic Lab Editions name is decidedly more epic than its performance.
The main problem with the Epic Lab Edition is the sound quality something youd hope expensive earbuds would crack.
By default, the bass totally overpowers the mid and treble too.
The JLab Epic Lab Edition don’t look as premium as their price suggests.
Thankfully, a custom option exists.
With this in mind, you might be querying our three-star verdict.
That’s because JLab really picks up the ball in its design and features department.
JLab says the Epic Lab Edition are its “most premium true wireless” earbuds.
TheJLab Epic Air, some of its other premium buds, are only half that cost.
The buds were announced in November 2023 and went on sale straight away.
Thats a fantastic amount of power, which means youll barely need to power up the unit.
A USB-C dongle allows you to access Bluetooth LE Audio but only on compatible devices.
JLab estimates that 10 minutes of charging will give you an hour and 45 minutes of listening time.
This sounds really handy, but in practice, it didnt always work.
The rear has a USB-C port for charging, as described already.
Out of the six ear tips provided in the box, three are foam and three are silicone.
You also get a USB-C to USB-C charging cable.
Some earbud tips struggle to stick in your ear in rainy conditions though, so keep them dry.
Rock music became 60% bass guitar, 30% vocals and 10% everything else.
Its hard to recommend earbuds if it’s crucial that you turn sound engineer to make them sound good.
Another problem is the ANC, or ambient noise cancellation.
Should I buy the JLab Epic Lab Edition?
For spoken word, they’re a bit better.
Thankfully there are buds for a fraction of the price that perform better!
A lightweight design and incredibly low price make it a much easier purchase to stomach.
