But, it’s not without competition, with other, non-traditional OLED screens being stronger in certain areas.

But if you want blockbuster sound, then you will want to invest in an external speaker.

It worked a treat and in the G4 OLED, weve got the second generation of this technology.
As before, the LG G4 supports severalHDRformats, including Dolby Vision, HLG and HDR10.
HDR10+ is absent, however.
Spider-man 2on PlayStation 5 ran as smooth as butter with the G4’s Game Optimizer active
The G4 also gets a newDolby Vision Filmmaker Mode, which can be activated when viewing compatible content.
For sound, you get a 4.2-channel system that supports, and can decode, Dolby Atmos and DTS.
LG G4 review: Picture quality
Numbers rarely lie and so well start with them here.
Those screens do use a quantum dot panel and Mini LED backlighting, respectively, which are inherently brighter.
Delta-E measures the difference between the source and the screen, and the lower the number, the better.
DCI-P3 coverage of the G4 was also impressive at 97.4% and BT.2020 was 72.9%.
But what does this all mean in reality?
The Standard picture mode delivered a perfectly fine picture, with great detail, contrast and bright colors.
Switching between Cinema, Cinema Home and Filmmaker Mode picture tweaks however yields far better results.
The G4 OLED is also a master at picking out detail in darker areas of an image.
I also tested the G4s upscaling by streaming an HD version ofAlienson Disney Plus.
I didnt think the G3 OLED was the best upscaler of non-4K content.
I also had to turn the volume up a fair bit for it to function at its best.
It can also connect wirelessly to select LG soundbars whilst still delivering Dolby Atmos.
I didnt test that feature this time, but I have previously experienced it when connected to theLG S95TRsoundbar.
Larger screen sizes still only ship with the wall mount.
However, customers in Australia will get a stand included no matter which screen size they choose.
LGs Magic Remote is supplied in its latest iteration with the G4 OLED.
We measured input lag at 4K 60Hz at 12.9ms, putting it on par with the G3 OLED.
Should I buy the LG G4?
It’s, in a word, perfect.
You want HDR10+ supportDespite supporting a number of HDR formats including Dolby Vision, HDR10+ support is still omitted.
Add in OLED Glare Free tech to all but banish reflections and you have yourself a quintessentially perfect TV.
It also gets Samsung’s One Connect box for connecting external devices, and has slightly better built-in sound.
